Yes, singlehood can downright suck. It can get lon Yes, singlehood can downright suck. It can get lonely, it can be scary, and it can feel overwhelming. But guess what… so can being in a relationship. It’s not the status that matters, it’s what you choose to do with it.

Being single doesn’t automatically mean you’ll be, lonely, sad & miserable. It doesn’t mean you’re pathetic or lesser than anyone in a relationship.

What it DOESN’T mean to be single:

1-Incomplete: Your worth isn’t determined by your relationship status. Being single doesn’t mean you’re incomplete; it means you’re a whole, unique individual

2-Loneliness: Being single doesn’t automatically equate to being alone. You can have a rich, fulfilling social life filled with meaningful connections

3-Lack of Options: It doesn’t mean you’re limited in your choices. You have the freedom to choose whether to be in a relationship or not & with whom

4-Failure: Singleness isn’t a failure, it’s a chapter in the story of your life, rich with its own experiences & lessons

5-Waiting: It’s not a waiting room for a relationship. Being single means actively living your life, not putting it on hold until someone else arrives

If you feel like you’re drowning in loneliness, If you feel like you’re drowning in loneliness, I want you to take the time you need with the following questions and answer them honestly with yourself. They are the questions that will help you better understand your loneliness, where it’s coming from, why you’re feeling it and how you can start overcoming it. Once you understand the root of the issue, it’s much easier to cope with it and yank it out.

Note: these questions won’t solve or fix your loneliness, it’s only the beginning, the first step of your journey towards overcoming loneliness and thriving in your singlehood.

1. Are you there for others? Or, are you just there with others, for yourself?
Meaning, you’re too focused on yourself, and trying to battle your own loneliness and problems, without being there for anyone else. Or only there for them, so they’ll be there for you.

2. Are the connections you have with the people in your life real? Or, are they just ‘space fillers’?
Meaning, you’re surrounded by people, but still feel lonely because none of these connections have depth. They aren’t friendships you can count on, or people who really care bout you and vice versa.

3. Are you avoiding your own company and presence at all costs, instead of spending quality time with yourself?
Meaning, you’re keeping busy or surrounding yourself with people so you don’t have to be alone, because it’s miserable and feels like a punishment.

4. Are you spending too much time by yourself, and too much of it doing nothing?
Meaning, you’re spending all of your spare time alone, cooped up at home, without talking and/or seeing friends and family. Also, you waste most of that time by being miserable or doing nothing of value and substance. 

5. Are you filling your life up with things that bring you joy, and that make you feel good and happy with yourself and your life?
Meaning, you’re life has more in it than just relationships with others, you have more going on for you, like: your career, hobbies, adventures, travel, working out, etc.
